First Yaris hybrid concept and Prius+ MPV images released ahead of 2011 Geneva motor show

Breaking news! These are the first photos of two exciting new models that Toyota will officially debut at the 2011 Geneva motor show.

Hot on the heels of last week’s FT-86 II concept teaser, we’re pleased to show you more from across the Toyota range – this time we have the clearest indication yet of what the new Yaris hybrid (HSD) concept will look like, as well as a sneak peek at the next evolution of the Prius family, the Prius+.

Although the picture below doesn’t give much away, we can tell you that the Prius+ is similar to the Prius v production model unveiled to the North American market earlier this year at the Detroit motor show. Prius+ will offer the versatility of 7 seats combined with a full hybrid powertrain.

Toyota’s 2011 Geneva Motor Show stand will be dedicated to the company’s range of sophisticated Hybrid Synergy Drive technologies. These include full Hybrid Vehicles (HV), Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHV), Electric Vehicles (EV), and Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicles (FCHV) on display – we’ll update the blog with more details in the coming weeks.

  1. Birty, You’ve got a long wait! 😉
James, yes a Prius would be nice, but physically big and very expensive! £20,000 plus. Petrol peaked at 134.9 and dropped to 133.9 yesterday, will it fall further, or rise again? Toyota, hurry up with the Yaris HSD or I might be tempted by a Nissan Leaf!, but not a Honda hybrid, it doesn’t give all that much better mpg than a standard petrol engined version.

  2. Good to hear that at last Toyota are expanding their Hybrid range more quickly, although the larger hybrids seem to have priority. The Auris Hybrid retails @ about £15000, so the Yaris Hybrid must be closer to £12000, after all the Prius retails @£20000+. As a “Senior citizen” I am now more aware of the expense of driving a petrol/diesel car. The VED on my present 1.6 Corolla is £165 and Petrol currently @ £1.30/L (I get just over 40mpg). I can’t wait to see all the spec and retail price and, of course, the P/E I can get! Even the 60mpg I’ve seen quoted for the Yaris HSD Concept, would increase my mpg by 50%, or reduce my petrol costs by 33% plus £0.00 VED, I want one!

  3. Prius + will be top of my list for my next car. Unless the kids get into walking everywhere then it will be an FT-86 😉
