It’s finally here - today, 1 July 2010, is the official launch day of the all-new Auris Hybrid. Regular blog readers will know that we’ve been getting excited about this new hybrid Toyota since it was announced last year. Building on over a decade of success with Prius, the British-built Auris Hybrid is Toyota’s first full-hybrid compact family hatchback to go on sale in the UK.

We’ve already broken the news that the Auris Hybrid will be a major attraction at Goodwood this year. But it’s not the only Toyota to make its way up the famous hillclimb - the greatest cars from Toyota’s World Rally Championship past will be on show at the Festival of Speed…

It came to our attention yesterday that one of Toyota GB’s advertisements appeared during Glenn Beck’s show earlier this month. This came after we withdrew our advertisements from the show earlier this year.
We’d like to reiterate that our position remains unchanged. We apologise sincerely, and we assure you that this will not happen again.

Today marks an important day in the run-up to the July 1 launch of the exciting new Toyota Auris Hybrid. Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable MP, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, will officially launch the start of production of the all-new Auris Hybrid Synergy Drive, the first full hybrid vehicle to be produced in Europe, during a visit to Toyota’s Burnaston Plant in Derbyshire.

Find out more about the engine that powers the new Auris Hybrid, as we take a closer look at Toyota Manufacturing UK’s (TMUK) Deeside plant, the first Toyota factory outside of Japan to have the honour of building a hybrid vehicle engine.

We’ve been getting excited about 1 July for quite some time. Now there’s even more reason to circle the date in your calendar - Toyota will mark Auris Hybrid’s official on-sale date with a new curtain-raising attraction for the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
