Toyota clearly doesn’t doubt the superb reliability of its Prius – selling the current model with a 60,000-mile warranty. There’s even less doubt about its Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain which comes with an eight-year warranty, but it’s nice to hear other people say it.
Which is why we’re thrilled that the Prius has again excelled in the annual JD Power/What Car? UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study (VOSS), being ranked second overall. The Prius managed an impressive 843 points out of a possible 1,000, only just coming second to the Lexus RX which scored 853.
It’s another great result for the Prius, which was outright winner in 2007 and 2008’s surveys, but Toyota’s success isn’t just limited to one model. AYGO topped the city car class, while Toyota was joint fourth in the manufacturer satisfaction index, with a score of 805.
The JD Power & Associates 2009 UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study was produced from more than 15,000 online interviews, representing 29 brands and 101 models. You can read the full details here.
