Prius+ press launch: ask us anything!

The Prius family is about to get bigger. We told you all about the forthcoming Toyota Prius+ MPV after its official unveiling at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, and next week we’re going a step further by attending the Prius+ press launch.

Toyota Prius+We’ll be joining some of the UK’s top motoring journalists and heading to Bratislava for the event on 21-22 June, but we’re not just going to sample the sights of the Slovakian capital. We’ll be driving the car and sharing our first impressions on this blog as well as on our Twitter at @ToyotaGB.

We’ll also have the chance to meet with some of Toyota’s chief engineers and product managers – so if there’s anything you want to know about the Toyota Prius+, the UK’s first seven-seat hybrid, then just submit your questions in the ‘Leave a reply’ box below and we’ll do our best to get you an answer.

Remember to check back next week for all the answers and our coverage of the event.

    1. Hi David,
There is 232 litres of storage capacity in the boot when all seven seats are in use. Fold the back row of seats and this increases to 784 litres.
If you flatten the second and third row of seats, there is 1,750 litres of space.
Hopefully these pictures I took will give you an idea of the space: https://twitter.com/ToyotaGB/status/216066251380899840
Just let me know if you have any other questions.
      Thanks,
      Will

    1. Hi Tom
There are no immediate plans for a plug-in hybrid version of the Prius+ at the moment.
The five-seat Prius Plug-in is launching soon, but adapting the system for use in a car the size of the Prius+ would likely take a lot of time in development.
      Thanks for your question.
      Will

  1. With all the rear seats folded what is the maximum height from the top of the folded seats to the inside roof? Also what is maximum inside load carrying distance from the back of the front seats to the rear door? When are these details going to be published?

    1. Hi David
I can’t answer that for you yet, but I’ll be sure to take a tape measure to the launch and get back to you.
Thanks for the question – do you need to know anything else?
      Will

    2. Hi David
The maximum height of the luggage space is 1,575mm. The measurement from the back of the front seats to the rear door is 4,615mm.
The maximum carrying capacity when the third row seats are up is 232 litres. That increases to 784 litres when they’re folded.
There is 1,750 litres of space when the second row of seats are folded flat. If you want to carry particularly long items, it is possible to fold flat the front passenger seat as well.
      Hope that answers your question.
      Many thanks,
      Will

  2. Hi my current Corolla Verso 2.2 D4D can acheuve up to 64 m.p.g on a run, can the Prius + better this? Does it qualify for zero car tax band?

    1. Hi Daryl

The T4 version of the Toyota Prius+ does qualify for zero car tax (VED band A). The T Spirit model is in band B (car tax costs £10 a year), with CO2 emissions of 100g/km.

The official fuel consumption figures are 68.9mpg for the T4 (16in wheels) and 64.2mpg for the T Spirit (17in wheels) on the combined cycle – so yes, it should at least match the figures you’re getting in your Corolla Verso.

We’ll be taking a close look at fuel economy on the Prius+ launch though, so please do check back here to find out how we get on. In the meantime, just let us know if you have any other questions.

      Many thanks

      Will
