Q1 – The Touch & Go Toolbox informs me that there is an important update to install when I insert my USB stick with the fingerprint taken from the vehicle on it. When I plug the USB stick into my Touch & Go it doesn’t recognise the update, why?

A – This update needs to be downloaded onto the USB stick to allow any selected system updates to be passed from the Toolbox to the car.

To do this, insert the fingerprint USB stick into your home PC or laptop with the Toolbox programme open. Accept the update, and then open the “Downloads” section of the Toolbox. Select the download (application or map update) that you require and once it is paid for (if payment is required) you can download the update to the USB stick from the “Updates” section of the Toolbox.

Q2 – Why can’t I find the device ID on my Touch & Go/Touch & Go+?

A – To obtain the device ID on Touch & Go or Touch & Go+ press the “Set up” hard button.  Touch the “General” button on the screen.  Scroll to the bottom screen and select Touch “System information”.  The device ID should now be visible on the screen.

For Toyota Touch Pro, press the “Set up” hard button, touch “Navigation” on the screen and then touch “Online search”.

Q3 – Why isn’t the device ID not recognised on the portal?

A – The device ID on T&G and T&G+ is a 26 digit code which can be made up of numbers letters and symbols. When the ID is entered on the customer portal it needs to be exactly as it shows on the T&G including observing upper and lower case and any symbols like underscores etc but without any spaces.

Q4 – Why don’t connected services work on my 2012 Toyota Prius, Land Cruiser, Land Cruiser V8 and Lexus GS, RX or CT?

A – Your device may not be compatible. A Bluetooth compatibility list for Toyota is available here and here for Lexus.

Q5 – Why is the address I want to navigate to missing?

A – The address could be missing from the mapping, unfortunately there is no way to guarantee that it will be added during the next update.

Q6 – Does my car have the latest map update?

A – You can view the latest available map version via the Downloads section of the T&G Toolbox.

Clicking on the map of Europe shopping trolley icon will show you the version information available, and whether or not you need to download.

Q7 – Do I have to pay for map updates?

A – All map updates are chargeable except for Touch & Go+. This system is supplied with “map care”, which provides 3 years of free map updates (up to a maximum of 6 updates).

Q8 – Do I need to take action if the date code of my new map is out of date?

A – No, the date format within the map ID is not a release date. This date is allocated to the map during the development process. Development of the map can take up to a year.

Q9 – Why won’t my phone connect to the Touch & Go Bluetooth?

A – Your phone may not be compatible. You can check compatibility for Toyota vehicles here, and Lexus vehicles here.

If your phone is listed as compatible but still won’t connect – try deleting the phone/Touch & Go pairing  and reconnecting.

Q10 – Why isn’t the music on my USB stick playing through Touch & Go?

A – There are quite specific requirements for what is “playable media”. You can find this information in the “Audio system operation” section of your owner’s manual.

If  your USB stick is compatible but the music is still not playing, there could be a fault with the stick and you should try another.

If no devices are recognised when you attempt to connect them via the vehicle USB port, there could be a connection issue. You will need to have this checked over by your dealer.

Q11 – How many map updates are there per year? 

A – For Touch & Go and Touch & Go+, there are 2 updates per year. For Toyota Touch Pro, there is 1.

Q12 – My phone is listed as incompatible but works with Touch & Go, why?

A – Only devices that are fully compatible with Touch & Go are listed as compatible.  Some functions can work partially with certain phones, but these would not be listed.

  1. Hi I have a 2012 auris. My touch and go system has stopped working. It’s just a blank screen so no sat nav or radio works. I checked the manual to find the fuse that I thought it would be. On opening the fuse box there wasn’t a fuse for the touch and go system

  2. Hi, my touch and go 2 appears to have lost it’s red colour, speed limits show as black and also road with Traffic, is there some way to reset to software? Other colours seem fine. Any ideas?

  4. Hi there,

    I’ve just bought a mid 2013 RAV4. It has Touch and Go 1. The sat nav seems a bit clunky and dated – not surprising as it is pretty old.

    Is there any point in me updating the software in the hope it will be to a significantly improved, newer version? Or will there be no real visible change? Map Update 2.15.5 seems to be the only Touch and Go 1 update listed.

        Thanks for that. Yes, that’s exactly my point. Will I be spending £109 to buy maps for all of Europe, which I don’t need, and getting a bearable noticeable software update.

        I’d like to know so I don’t waste the money. But surely there must have been an update back in 2013/14/15 – without maps – which just brought system up to the latest version.

        1. Hi Robert,
          The update for Touch & Go 1 is just maps, the user interface and speed will be the same – or no noticeable difference. Your OS is MM11 and the update your referring to was released in 2016 for Touch 2 with Go for MM13 to MM16.
          It is possible for you to pay / purchase a TNS400 unit that will fit in the existing vehicle and will be significantly faster and run the latest software, but this will be an expensive option.

    Just bought the missus a 3rd gen Yaris T-Spirit, and was looking to update the satnav.
    I downloaded the toolbox, but find my software version is 1.6.61 which is too old for the toolbox to accept.. I have managed to download the latest map from the toyota tech site, and noticed the SWDL.iso file which is the update.. can I copy this to the root of the USB stick, and update the satnav without any problem ?
    Or is there anywhere else I can download the SWDL.iso file at version 1.7.2 or higher that will allow me to use the toolbox?

  6. I have a Touch & Go and have been trying to send map addresses to my device via the Toyota planner but it is not allowing me to send or download to a USB can you help?

      Thank you for getting in touch. Can you confirm your software version and how many POI points are being entered? Can we confirm that this is for just Touch and Go 1?
      T&G1 will only allow 1 POI point to be sent, if more than 1 is entered then the option to send to USB or via internet will be greyed out.

    I am having real trouble finding my touch and go Device ID to register on my Toyota. Following the steps set out in guide book and online I can’t find it. I did contact the garage where I purchased the car however they have not helped. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I have Toyota Yaris 2013 (63) car with the first Toyota touch and go system.     1. Hi Ashley,
      If you have a Sat Nav installed, you will have to locate the Device ID under System information in your multimedia system.
      Setup > General > Scroll down to System Information > Select System Information and then note down the Device ID (if you own a smartphone, we would advise taking a picture so you have a clear view of it).
      Log into My Toyota > Select My Vehicles > Select Multimedia > Select the image of your multimedia system > Select ‘I prefer to register online’ > Enter the Device ID correctly which will enable you to purchase the map update you would need for your Multimedia system through the e-Store.
      In the e-Store, your map updates are located there with a user guide provided.

  8. Hi, I have just bought a Toyota Yaris 1.33 VVT-i TR 5dr 2012, as a second hand car.
    Having explored my new purchase, when pressing the Map (SAT NAV) button it returns a message of “system not installed”.
    Could you please explain what this means?

    1. Hi Steph,
      We would imagine it means the vehicle does not have Sat Nav on this vehicle. To be 100% sure, we would have to advise contacting your nearest dealer so they can check this out. Unfortunately, as we can’t see the vehicle it would be difficult to diagnose. Hope this helps.

  9. Hi there. I have 11,700 songs on my 128GB USB stick. All in specific folder structures based upon the band/album etc. Many were ripped from my CD collection years ago without the full tag details, resulting in “track 1” song titles etc. How do I access and browse the folder structure using my Auris media player. Playlists are OK, but I can’t realistically create new play lists to cover 12 thousand songs.

      The car doesn’t like USBs over 16GB, at this many songs the only way would be playlists or using an ID tagging software to add tags to all the tracks as the system uses these tags to build the database & allow searching.
      But with a 128GB stick searching will be slower.

    3. I have a 32GB USB which has over 5000 tracks on it, I have each album in its own folder and everything works OK, I tend to use shuffle but can just play one album at a time

  10. I think from what I have read my system is Toyota touch as very limited features. My question is if I buy a Toyota touch and go extension box will it be compatible and upgrade my system to touch and go in 2014 Auris. Th yu

    1. I too have just bought a Sept 64 reg Auris Touring Sport. When I saw the touch screen I thought I would have sat Nav, fairly standard nowadays, on most cars ? Didn’t even think to ask if it was installed 🙄.
      However, not only do I not have Navigation on the car I found recently that I can’t even use MirrorLink to pair my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone Navigation app worth the Touch and Go system !!? Talk about non-backwards upgrades !😱 What, other than screwing customers for MORE money, was Toyota doing ?
      Furthermore, to get Touch and Go 2 would mean a cost of at least £750, according to my local dealership AND you can’t just buy the Navigation Extension unit you have to buy and replace the complete Touch and Go unit ! 😡

  11. Can anyone help me get traffic information to interrupt my iPod, does not happen unless it is a suitable station or CD player.

  12. Hi our 2016 Yaris touch multimedia system doesn’t support iphone 6s music browse function our old iphone 4 worked fine. Apparently the software on the car needs an update, it’s a main dealer job I reckon would there be a charge for doing the update?

          1. The iphone 6 was introduced in 2014/2015 so the 2016 Yaris software should be compatible and have the updated software pre installed, so therefore I cannot see a reason for there to be a charge.

  13. Hi, I have just purchased the three year map services which includes Cyclops mobile cameras. The new map (6.8.1L) installed without any problems by I cannot see the Cyclops application anywhere although Coyote is there. Is Coyote a replacement for Cyclops? If so then Coyote has warned me that I only have one month free use instead of three years. Can you please clarify for me. Thanks

        1. Hi Steve,
          Sorry for the delay in response. Coyote is a 3rd party app and is included as a free trial, and the 3rd party manage the subscriptions for this; a full year is £79. Cyclops is a subscription and there is no app.
          In the settings for the nav there is a check box called do you wish to have internet speed cameras, having this checked, enables cyclops.
          You also need to have a tethered phone – if you have a phone connected for internet and this option enabled, you will have a picture of a speed camera with a + sign on it in the bottom right of the screen.
          Note – the speed cameras are overlayed onto the map, it is a social camera reporting tool. The warnings for the cyclops cameras are different to the inbuilt cameras and some customers find it very annoying as it is a continuous beep beep beep until you pass the camera.
          We hope this helps.

  14. Both my wife and I have aygos. In fact we have had 8 between us. This recent one has MyTouch installed where as the others all had a previous system called “car multimedia” The brochure talks about voice, but this system installed doesnt allow for that ? It is really dangerous given the recent accidents and law on using phones whilst driving. This system in the aygo means that to make a call one has to use left hand to scroll down the contacts and then press the contact and then press the green phone to dial or if its one you have dialled before one has to scroll down the list of call history and then press the green phone. This means that you have a system that everytime one uses it for phoning one has to take left hand off the steering wheel and eyes of road for a while too. Thats just for the phone use. Imagine when a text or email comes up on screen what the dangers are then. Also a similar situation using the mirror screen part of the system for scrolling down for a song to be played or chaning radio channel. Two questions : 1. Did no one in Toyota realise that they have fitted a system that is making people illegal and dangerous ? 2, You blog here talks about voice activation so does that mean the aygo can get upgraded ?

      Although there are options to scroll on the device we always ask that our owners abide by the rules of the road and make sure they are stationary when making any major adjustments to our Touch system.

          1. The same situation in my car I have voice activation button on steering wheel of auris but says not installed. How much for voice activation software please . Also something I find really annoying is it won’t show name of cd or the names of cd tracks. I just sold a 2012 vw that did this so I have actually gone backwards 😡😡

  15. I have a 2015 yaris with touch and go stereo (without satnav). Unfortunately no cd player with it, and I have a stack load of cd’s (should have paid more attention when buying the car!!). I can’t locate a 3.5mm jack/aux input to connect my personal CD player to it, so I bought a usb to 3.5mm cable hoping that would work, but sadly doesn’t! Very frustrating!! Is there any other way of being able connect a CD player to this system as I really don’t want to have to spend hours copying my cd’s to pc then pc to usb stick. Thanks

    I have Prius T-Spirit 2015. This week I am not sure what happened to Touch & Go, I lost all my settings such as saved addresses on map and Bluetooth is not working anymore. Bluetooth is turned off and wont turn on back. Could you please help how can i turn the Bluetooth back on? When i click on Bluetooth it takes me to the screen where it says “Bluetooth is off” then no clicking works to turn on the Bluetooth. Please help!!!!!!!!!!

      1. My Avensis 2012 just did the same today, i can’t turn bluetooth on again and i can’t store adresses such as home and work anymore. All other settings such as EQ, when light should be turned on and when doors should lock and all that is still as i put it, it’s just the bluetooth and the gps…

        I have checked all fuses and restore settings to factory settings, but it still dosen’t work.

  17. I have an Auris with Touch & Go sw version 2.12.5 and card EUL20150630. Toyota has an offer to receive software and card updates for 3 years. The most recent sw version seems to be 2.13.5.
    What are the improvements in this software version and is ot worthwhile upgrading?

      1. Will it fix the constant crashing I experience in my Prius 4 ? Playing bluetooth or usb audio is near impossible. You guys are going to lose it all to Google and Apple if you keep treating this part of the car like an afterthought. God help you when autonomous cars arrive if you take the same approach of getting whatever is cheaper.

    I have a Prius Hybrid with Touch&Go system with software version 1.7.3L (map version is EUL20110321 ). I was copy to usb fingerprint from system information menu and using Toyota Touch&Go Toolbox I buy new map in version 2.13.5 (map version is EUL20160201) When I put USB stick to car system found update but don’t want to update. Just give me information that update is not compatible with system. Could anybody help me with this?

  20. How can I find the latest update for my Touch and Go plus. I’m being driven mad by it crashing, Sat Nav is a nightmare, voice recognition works when it feels like it. I’ve tried to find it everywhere and I have asked Charlotte on the 15th April for help on this. My dealer FRF say it’s too big a download for them. Thanks in advance

  22. i have a New Auris excel tourer with a touch2 go plus, i seem to have lost the setting screen for adjustments like “turn indicator” which i want to set from 3 to 5, I can get to Vehicle customisation but there are only 3 options in that heading, how do i get to the correct screen

  23. Hi, I have just changed my Yaris Hybrid for a new Auris Excel. On the Yaris satnav, if I had several stopovers entered, the display would show the final arrival time and distance. On the Auris satnav however, the display only shows the time and distance to the first stopover. Is there any way that this can be changed?

          Thank you for your post. We have run this past our technical department and they have advised after testing similar vehicles and checking other resources, it would appear that this is how the system functions now. Unfortunately there is no way of displaying the final destination ETA once a stopover is added. It will instead revert to the ETA of the stopover destination first.   25. I have Touch and Go 2 in my 2012 RAV4. When I first bought it a couple of years ago, I paid for a map update via the Touch and Go Toolbox and installed it.

    This week, I checked for software updates, after taking a system usb copy, and under Updates in Toolbox, it said I had one new package to install, Map of Europe.

    I downloaded it (which took a few hours) and when installing it in the car, I got a message about it being an existing version. I installed it anyway. This all went ok but I ended up with the same 2013 map date version as I already had, so the onscreen message about the existing version was correct.

    I then took another system usb copy and when used in Touch and Go toolbox, it still said I had a new package to install, Map of Europe.

    I’m assuming now that this ‘new package’ is actually the one that I already have but the Updates section doesn’t state the map version, so there is no way of confirming this.

    For any future updates, how do I tell if they are new or just repeating what I already have? How do I tell what version a “new package to install” is in case it isn’t a new version at all? I would like to avoid a download that takes several hours if it is unnecessary.

  26. Hi – I have recently purchased an Auris Excel Tourer. Can you tell me what is the latest information as regards the email and texting compatibility with an iPhone 5S?

We have spoken with our technical team and they have advised that iPhone 5S only offers the ability to see text messages that are received by the phone while it’s connected to the car via Bluetooth. Messages cannot be replied to and historic messages cannot be seen. To be able to see the messages “Show notifications” will need to be switched on in the Bluetooth connections menu in the phones settings. The iPhone does not support any email functions.       Thank you for your post. If you have Touch & Go +, or Touch 2 with Go +, the speed camera warnings will be available, and can be switched on in the map settings.     I wish to update the firmware of my GT86 touch and go unit, i am not bothered about a map update.

    The device is barely usable. The sat nav crashes randomly and the Ipod interface wont let me swap between albums. I am on version 1.71 at the moment. Please provide a firmware only upgrade path for me, i am in warranty so expect this to be free of charge.

          If you do not have the satnav loaded on your car then your local Toyota dealer will be able to add this for you (they can confirm cost if you give them a call), it is also likely that you may also have the handbook in your car for the Touch & Go operation as this not only includes the nav but the audio system as well.   30. I have just purchased a new Aygo. I have managed to connect my Galaxy S5 to the My Touch system. However when trying to sync contacts it says ‘Contact Transfer Unsuccessful’. When I try to manually transfer the contacts it will get to 298 and then give me an error message.

    On top of that…the MirrorLink system doesn’t seem to work.

    Any ideas?

    1. Hi Thomas, thanks for your post. Are the contacts stored on the phone or the Sim card? If the contacts are stored on the Sim, you’ll need transfer them over to the phone to allow them to appear on the My Touch system. Let us know if this fixes the problem. Can you provide us with more detail regarding the MirrorLink issue. Are you using a USB cable? What are you seeing on screen? etc

      1. Hi Matt. I have transferred my contacts to the device previously however this hasn’t helped. Is it because I have too many contacts for the My Touch system? I have over 500 contacts in my phone.

        With regards to MirrorLink…when I connect it with the USB cable it shows on the phone that it is connected and on the My Touch system- however on the My Touch system it just shows a blank screen (even though it has said it is connected)?

        1. Hi Thomas, we’ve spoken to our technical department, the Samsung S5 is only compatible on MirrorLink version 1.1. Version 1.1 is only available on vehicles built after the 15th Jan 2015. Earlier vehicles can be updated once the software is released, (this should be within the next 2 months). The DriveLink App must also be downloaded (if it hasn’t already) via the Samsung App store (this is free).

          Transferring contacts:
          Could you please double check the Bluetooth signal wasn’t interrupted part way through the transfer? If you could delete the pairing via your Aygo’s multimedia and phone, restart your phone, repair and then transfer contacts over.

          If this doesn’t work could we please have some more details of the error? You could have an app on your phone blocking the transfer – we have had a case before on an Android phone where it would stop at around the 300 mark. The customer deleted all apps from their phone and it uploaded all contacts. The contacts limit is 1000 so it should transfer all of your contacts across. Could you please list all the Apps installed on your phone?

  31. OK, so first of all I need the Touch & Go downloaded on my PC. So I create my profile on the Customer Portal and add my car which shows up nicely.

    THEN I try getting that dastard download, but on putting it in my cart, the portal now says that ”
    You currently have no vehicles added to your account!” ! I certainly have, since I can see it.

    Why is this needed in the first place in order to get the platform, and why does this not work? This portal of yours is unbelievably under par when it comes to usability. It is as though the debveloper team has never tried sitting in the position of the user trying to get a new car updated from A to Z.

  33. Hi, I have a Yaris 2012 with the Touch Screen with Navigation, not updated at all. I am trying to change the sound settings by using the menu (Setup, Audio, then only the Radio Settings button is available and the Sound Settings button greyed out). Any ideas?       We have had a quick look at this for you and what you need to do is to switch on the radio then go back in Settings/Audio and you will then be able to go into the sound settings feature and change the bias of your speakers front and rear. Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

  35. I have a 2013 Rav4 Icon with the Touch system. When I insert a MP3 CD or USB with MP3 files on, the embedded artwork is not displayed. When I connect my iPod the artwork is displayed. Do I need to upgrade the firmware for the MP3 artwork to display?

      We do not currently have information about when the new update will be available. As a guide there are two upgrades a year. If you are unsure then your local Toyota dealer can check which version you have for you. To answer your question though we could not say whether the upgrade would resolve the specific issue you mention because of the large amount of data involved across Europe. You would need to upgrade the system and then check whether this has worked.

    Every time i want it to connect to wifi network (same one) it asks for the password and to manually choose the network.

      We have checked this with our technical team. They have advised that if you are connecting your phone to your car using the hotspot then the head unit in the car should retain your password. If however you have purchased the wifi hotspot accessory item then you would need to enter your password each time. We hope this helps clarify but let us know if you have any other questions.

We’ve spoken to our technical department, they recommend trying these few steps: Go to the settings section on your iPhone, click on bluetooth, then Touch and Go and change the show notifications from off to on.     My query is that I cannot find if this is the latest map edition on Toolbox. More importantly, should a more recent map be delivered on an 2014 car.

      Maps are released twice a year – we are currently on 2.9.4L. You can check if you have the latest version by going to,

      Go to Owner tab -> free access column -> Navigation Map Updates (opens new window) -> Choose model (Avensis) -> Choose picture of system (Touch & Go) pop up appears -> scroll left using arrow key (basically move through the instructions on checking) page 5 shows the current MAPID version EUL20131028

    I have recently purchased a new 64 plate Auris Hybrid Icon Plus and am having trouble downloading the fingerprint from the Touch and Go 2 system to a memory stick. It is formatted in FAT32 and worked fine on my previous Auris Excel system however I cannot find the option to download the fingerprint. Any pointers as to where it is please?

    1. Hi. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We’ve spoken with our technical team and there is no ‘fingerprint’ for Touch and Go 2. Updates to the system are via the customer e-portal. Hope this helps.

  43. I have had my GT86 for 7 months now and have had no problems using my iPod with the Touch & Go system over that time. Last week I flattened my battery, my own fault as I left the interior light on all weekend but a visit from the AA soon got me started up again and since then I have driven several hundred miles.
    Since having the flat battery I now get the following message whenever I try to connect my iPod:
    “Power consumption of USB device too high. USB device will therefore be turned off.” with a “Confirm” button displayed.
    However many times I press the “Confirm” button the message continues to flash back on the screen until I disconnect the iPod. The car battery is clearly OK now as no other functionality of the car or Touch & Go system is affected. Is there anyway that I can reset this warning message so that I can use my iPod again ?

      We did run this past our technical team.
      They have advised that you seem to have downloaded the software that takes the early versions to the updated version. You do need Toolbox downloaded on your PC to make this work. Once you have this and you puts the finger print in it, it will find the latest version. You are doing the rest of the operation correctly.

    I got Toyota avensis T Spirit 62 Plate with TG+ was trying to update my maps done everything as Toyota advised. The problem is that I put flash in to usb and pressed car start button in to accessory mode ( did not know that it will shut power off in 30 min). So installation has crashed, cant use sat nav or any other features, apart of radio. Displays says to insert usb stick with update.
    What shall I do know?? Is there anywhere to download new software?

      1. I have now found that your update toolbox does not support my computer, you need windows Xperia service pack 3. I have borrowed a more up to date computer widows 7 64 bit. I have now found thT the download for tool box does not work with Firefox, chrome and am currently trying Internet explorere, however it is currently saying the wed page for navixtra tool box down load is not available. Why don’t you provide very clear information on exactly what is required for toolbox to work. My dealer knows less about touch and go than I do, I end up giving them and some customers lessons. This should be an easy and seamless system to use. Why doesn’t someone write a clear and accurate instruction book.

          Our Tech team have tried downloading the Toolbox from their customer portal account and it is currently downloading without any issues.
          The common issue they come across with Toolbox download is that the PC pop up blocker sometimes needs to be disabled prior to you clicking on the link. They have advised to check this however if this doesn’t help please let us know and provide more details as to what you are doing to download the toolbox. If it helps further, FAQ’s are available via the help icon on the Touch & Go customer portal (www.my.toyota.eu). Lastly, when you say Naviextras do you mean the link via the Touch & Go customer portal?

    I have bought a Brand New Aygo X-Pression 64 Plate and I want to be able to update the software of the Touch and Go System, I cannot locate the device ID under System Information. Also when I add my vehicle in the customer portal and select Aygo as the model of the vehicle, the device ID section becomes locked out and I cannot enter a device ID?

    Is the Apple iPhone 5C fully compatible with the Touch and Go system, including being able to send and receive text messages, if not when will this be available?

      Thanks for your post.
      No software update available yet as Aygo still too new for this. With regard to the system id, the Aygo uses x-nav which is a different operating system to Toyota Touch & Go and cannot be used in the same way in terms of operation and updates. This means that you can use your phone for streaming music and Bluetooth with x-nav however it will not work in terms of sending and receiving texts.
      We hope this helps clarify but do let us know if you have any other questions.

          Also, double check your phone settings regarding text approval. With regard to the voice recognition button, this will only work if Touch & Go + is fitted in your vehicle. The button will be fitted to every car built at the factory and can be used if a customer decides to choose this option. Hope this helps clarify and let us know if you have any other questions.

However it’s pretty much unusable at the moment, as it seems to have defaulted to Surname only.       1, The phone isn’t compatible. (You can check compatibility)
      2, The numbers are stored on the SIM card not directly on the phone.

      We have run this query past our technical team.
      There is not too much detail and they have had to assume that it refers to no USB folder structure displaying on your car multimedia system. This is because not all systems can cope with folders – folders mean that the system has to index the USB before it can use it – the more indexing it has to do the more data it has to store and the systems are limited on this. The system therefore groups everything, as that uses the least data, and therefore it can transfer between tracks faster.
      Hope this is what you meant and the above reply has answered your query.

You can browse music on some MP3 devices if it is connected via USB cable, however not if it is connected via bluetooth – this is because the bluetooth security protocols set by phone manufactures do not allow external bluetooth devices to access the folder structure inside the phone. The brochure tells me I get 12 months free of connective services . Have made an online account as per instructions in brochure. Within the Touch & Go toolbox I have just had a look for a map update and it states to come back in June, but I also got on the screen a message to go to http://www.navextras.com/to/activate with a “request code” to insert, if you go to the webpage there is no touch & go to select and activate?

  57. ive tried a 4GB usb and a 16gb USB stick and i have not been ablle to get the fingerprint to copy.

    with that the Copy button is always grey and ive never seen it whit or so i can actually press i.

    No other function fo the USB seems to be working either.

    is a complete rechnical problem with the USB adapter?

    and there is a switch next to the USB ort which looks like P(((( and i cant figue out what this for at all pleaaaasssssee HELP

      Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the USB adapter.
      Have you checked to see if the USB format is correct? The format of the USB stick must be FAT 32 with at least 8G of memory.

  58. I have noted two problems playing mp3 files from a USB stick.

    1. Playlists work and the unit will resume playback of the last track played before you turn off the engine.

    However, quite often the random play becomes unselected and you have to select it again.

    2. Most tracks display all data on screen. However, some only seem to display the track file name and the folder name only.

    Any thoughts please?

      It is very difficult to diagnose a problem such as this online. However, having passed your queries by our technical team we suggest the following:
      1. This issue is unknown and we recommend contacting your local Dealer to look into this further.
      2. This may be due to the format of the audio file saved to the USB device. As a result, some track data may be incompatible with the audio system and therefore not be displayed.

  59. Hi, a have recently purchased Toyota Yaris with Touch and go navigation system, and currently i have version 1.7.8L installed.

    In recent posts i have read that the new 2014 map update is due to be ready in April 2014. Do you maybe have an exact datum so that i dont update it now, and in a week there will be a new update available?

    PS. Is folder view available on my system? (i have sorted my MP3 on my USB in folders, but i am unable to find the appropriate folder view, just by song/artist/album)

      Thanks for your post.
      You are quite right, the latest map update was planned for April. Unfortunately this has now been delayed. We do not have a confirmed date, but it is now expected at some point during May.
      In regards to your second question, folder view is not available on your version of Touch & Go. All files are required to be placed into the root folder.

  60. Reading through the blogs below there seems to be confusion regarding the latest versions of touch and go. I have a March 2014 reg.Rav 4 Invincible and the version detail reads 4.2.1L map id2014v1 but there is no voice recoginition on it. I was suprised about this as my Rav 4 reg.Jan.2012 had it included… have you any comments on this?

Photo shown above here shows airbag info and warning light button on left of Sat Nav but my new Yaris Icon Plus has that on the RH side and as result of which I am having great difficulty seeing my sat nav screen, particularly when the sun is shining. Which side is standard please? Have other people had that problem? Really not happy with it. Also, is there a setting that will cut the radio off when sat nav instruction is given as again, hard to hear with the radio on. Have to say my Micra was much better!!

      Thanks for your post.
      The standard layout for a right hand drive Yaris such as yours is for the hazard warning light button etc. to be housed on the right of the Touch & Go display closest to the driver. Left hand drive vehicles such as the one pictured house these on the opposite side. Apologies for any confusion caused.
      In regards to a radio cut off, unfortunately this is not currently available, our only recommendation would be to maximise the sat nav’s volume.
      We appreciate your feedback and will be sure to pass it on to our product team.

  62. Tried to upgrade my Prius+ Touch & Go but ended up with a USB error Consistency check. Have tried different USB sticks and same problems. Now it is stuck in a Software Update mode and keeps asking for a USB stick with a valid update. Any ideas how I can get out of this as now I have lost all functionality and can’t take a new fingerprint as that option is not available in the mode it is in.

      Having passed your query by our technical team, we believe the issue may be caused either by an incorrectly formatted USB device (must be FAT 32), or the device having an incompatible storage capacity (a minimum of 8GB is required).

    A – For Touch & Go and Touch & Go+, there are 2 updates per year. For Toyota Touch Pro, there is 1.

    The latest map update I can purchase in the toolbox is EUL20130409 which has been there for at least 9 months, in the MY2012 Rav 4 I have the Touch & Go, what happened to the two updates a year or has it regressed to 1 or possibly to none?

    Any chance of a clue when we will see the next update?

      We can confirm that Touch & Go receives two updates per year. Last year the first was released in February and the second in October. The next map update is set for release later this month.

      We do not have a positive reply here because as you may be aware Touch & Go is not compatible with Mac and we acknowledge the disappointment which this causes to owners. The customer portal can still be accessed but it is not possible to download the apps unless a PC is used.

  67. My touch n go in my one year only toyota verso stopped working today when I out car into reverse. The camera didn’t work and the screen just showed a white screen. Cannot get audio or sat nav or camera only white screen. I Have tried turning off and on engine – no joy. Is there a way of rebooting it ? Or is it back to dealer.

          After checking with our technical team, we can confirm that only MP3 and WMA playback is supported. Besides memory, there shouldn’t be any limitations in regards to the number of folders used per USB device.

    Unfortunately no the only apps I can seem to see is the fuel prices one I think Glass of Water and Weather must only be available via Touch and Go+.

  70. Further Update:

    Since getting the CarPlay feature on my iPhone via latest update (connecting with Bluetooth) I can now read incoming text messages. I can now also create a new message, use a pre determined template but once ready to send it doesn’t go anywhere even though it looks like it has?!

    Toyota apparently has signed up as an affiliated partner for Apple products with functionality CarPlay. Unless I am doing something wrong when connecting via a USB there is no real advantage other than albumn art, no pics can be viewed, Siri or other apps cannot be controlled via the Touch and Go System.

    Surely this could be addressed with a software update for the Touch and Go system? Or as a previous poster has suggested do we have to continue with a half baked interface with partial functionality compared to iOS and Android linked systems.

    Thanks for your help so far much appreciated though still can’t get glass of water or weather app to work? 🙁

      Sorry about the delay have been checking with our tech team.
      Just to clarify the current generations of T&G are not Apple Car Play compatible and text messaging is not fully compatible with iPhone. Incoming text messages have always been available when “show notifications” was turned on on the iPhone. With regard to the applications, do they show in the appropriate menu?

  72. The PC only toolbox so needs a mac version as running it on a windows really gets on my nerves waiting for all the possible errors on earth to show up on my screen.
    Anyways, having paid over £700 for a touch and go find the UI really unfriendly.
    Think I was better off with a £50 tom-tom app on my iPad. Also wish I could just install an iPad mini instead and all the apps i need not having to go through all this crapy errors.

  73. Hi, I got my 14 plate Auris Excel last Friday 8th March.
    Today, 11th March, I finally managed to figure out how to download the Touch & Go windows program which tells me I can buy a new map for £109.00

    Don’t you even get the current map for free and are the updates every six months going to be £109.00

    That seems to be rather expensive compared to plugin sat nav devices some of which now come with lifetime updates.

  74. A note to add to my previous post:

    Apple released a software update yesterday to give iOS far better capabilities when connecting to in-car infotainment systems. CarPlay is a new functionality that allows you to use your in-car hardware to control numerous applications such as texting, music altercation, Siri etc.

    Will this mean that Toyota Touch and Go users will have to wait for a Touch and Go update to include more functionality with iPhones?

    I have the Touch and Go system fitted in my 13 plate Rav4. I have downloaded the Touch and Go toolbox, made fingerprint on USB, downloaded to free apps (weather and glass of water) but they do not seem to appear my system even though it said update complete.

    I would also like to get twitter and see text messages. I know I can download twitter and other apps via the toyota toolbox but it does not seen to update my system.

    My iPhone 5S works well although text messaging and voice control do not seem to work. Is this because I need the Touch and Go+ system? What are the differences? Does this also mean I have to pay for every map update etc.

    A little confused and would appreciate some guidance.

      Thanks for your post about Touch & Go. Have run this past the tech team for you.
      Taking your first point about the downloads, if you have downloaded successfully the applications then they are accessed by pressing the telephone/globe button twice, this button cycles between the phone and the applications/connected services. If this doesn’t work then they have suggested that you try downloading the applications again.
      Turning to Twitter, you will need to download the application for Twitter. (Please see below ref text messages).
      You will need to check which version of Touch & Go you have (whether your version has an H or an L at the end). RAV4 came with Touch & Go which did not have voice activation which is confirmed if the software version has an “L” at the end. Lastly, the text message function isn’t compatible with iPhones (please see the compatibility list). If you switch on “show notifications” in the Bluetooth menu of your phone then you may be able to see text messages that are received when the phone is connected via Bluetooth though.
      Hope this helps for now and just looking into your other post.

    1) Could you please give a direct link to where the latest Toolbox software can be downloaded. I’ve searched the net intensively and it is not available via the customer portal (States: Map & updates coming soon) and the only place where I found a Toyota site linking to the SW it gives me a 404 (invalid link), when you click the download button.

    2) I can see you introduced Toyota Touch 2. Is it only for new Toyotas (i.e. does it require specific HW) or can I upgrade from my T&G in my Toyota Avensis 2012 model (Denmark/EU)?

    I really, really hope so, because the current software really lacks a lot in user friendliness and in functinality. Such a shame i an other wise really good car 🙂

      Thanks for your post.
      To download the toolbox, you can do this if you are in the customer portal and go to purchase one of the free apps (weather for example) then it does prompt you to download the toolbox which you can then save on your PC.
      Turning to Touch 2, we will be introducing this across new models but this is a different system to Touch & Go so it will not be possible to upgrade from Touch & Go to Touch 2.

          To answer your question regarding software updates, these are almost always undertaken at the same time as a map update. The reason I say almost is because we have had to update the software only in the past so the answer to your question is yes it is possible to upgrade separately but this is nearly always undertaken together.
          The situation regarding MACs is under review for Touch 2 but no news regarding Touch & Go at the moment unfortunately. Finally thank you for your feedback regarding the number of available apps. We will be feeding this back to our European office so they can review in the future.

  77. I have a late 2012 Prius Plug-In. This is supposedly fitted with Touch n Go Pro?

    The entire TnG system reboots itself repeatedly during journeys using the navigation system and during TnG mediated phone calls. This happens several times during even short journeys!

    My dealer tells me they need to first update the software (currently ver. 1.7.9 H) but that there is a charge for this. Is this because the device ID in this model uses the map system ID? Can the software be updated without updating the maps?

      Thanks for your post.
      If you have Touch & Go Pro then you automatically receive 3 years free map updates. It is also possible for you to download the maps yourself if it helps. You can register your car on my.toyota.co.uk and use the quick link to my.toyota.eu where you do need to re-register but will be able to access the latest mapping. Any problems though please let us know or speak with your dealer. When you update the maps you will also be updating the system software. (2.8.5H is the latest software update).

  78. can you explain why the sat nav freezes when bridge(s) are closed to high-sided vehicles. sat nav freezes sometimes quite a distance from the bridge so won’t even work on the re-route & doesn’t/won’t work again until car is switched off.

Your satnav should not be freezing in the circumstances you have described but without examination of the system it is difficult to comment further.   82. I am very disappointed to find that having just had a T&G fitted at the main dealer – it was ordered in from toyota – that the versionb is 2.4.7 even though I understand that the latest version is already 3.2.1 !

  83. I have just had a T&G installed, and it keeps asking my phone for map update. It beeps every few minutes and is driving me mad, but I cannot see any way to stop it short of turning off my phone which defeats thew whole purpose of having it!! How can I stop this??

  85. my last car was a toyota Aygo Go with built in tom tom which displayed speed limit for the area i was driving in,also my calculated speed im doing & when i went over the speed limit it would alert me ,the toyota touch & go isn`t a patch on
    my last car as it doesnt display actual speed of the car or give me a audiable warning when going faster than the limit stated even with device volume up on full ! only flashes red on screen where speed limit should be ,im very dissapointed that iv`e parted with £650 for this item,when a portable tomtom for £150 would perform better 🙁

      Thanks for your comments regarding speed limits and audible warning. You can set a warning when the limit is exceeded by a certain amount. In order to do this you will need to touch the options tab on the map screen, then touch map settings, then speed limits, and you can set how much (in mp/h) over the speed limit you need to be before the warning will sound.

      If you have a US specification vehicle this will be harder for us to answer as we will only hold information for UK models. Also, if you have what we call a Prius + (I believe this is called a Prius v in the US) then our Prius + is not available with Pro in our market. For our market Touch Pro doesn’t have any customer downloadable features (map updates or applications) so the fingerprint isn’t required. If you need any help with contact details for Toyota US please let us know.

    When you finally get into gear by introducing a SIRI button into a forthcoming vehicle will you still not realise the importance of the Mac market?
