Celebrating the launch of the new 2012 Toyota Hilux with Toyota’s global network

2012 Hilux

While we still have a little while to wait until the new 2012 Toyota Hilux launches here in the UK, our friends Toyota Australia, Toyota New Zealand and Toyota South Africa have kicked off their advertising campaigns for this all-conquering, ‘indestructible’ 4×4 pick-up.

Click on the videos below, and let us know which of these very funny ads is your favourite.

Toyota Australia – ‘Unbreakable’

Toyota New Zealand – ‘Tougher Than You Can Imagine’

Toyota South Africa – ‘Toughness Rubs Off”

The 2012 Hilux goes on sale in the UK in October, priced from £16,090 CV on-the-road.

  1. Is dab going to be offered for the HILUX? I have currently taken delivery of a 2014 hilux and would like to add dab onto it.

    1. Hi Ryan
      Thanks for your post.
DAB is available as an accessory item for your Hilux and your dealer will have more information regarding this. It is called a DAB retrofit module. If you have any problems though or need further help please let us know.

  2. Hi,
Dab is available as an option on the touch and go equipped yaris
My local Center tells me there is no option for a touch and go equipped hilux

    Is that really true ?
If it is why is that ? Is it not the same system that is in the yaris ?
Are there plans to offer dab as an option on the 2012 hilux ?

      1. Hi Robert,
Wonderful many thanks for the quick reply.
Do you have a part number I can pass to my local Toyota centre? Do you know how much it will cost?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
        Thanks for all your help

        1. Hi Paul,

The part number for the 2012 Hilux Touch & Go system is: PZ490-00330-00. Your local Toyota Centre will be able to confirm the price including fitting.

We hope you have a Merry Christmas also.

          1. Hi Robert,
I have now ordered my Hilux 2012.
However my local Toyota Centre tells me DAB is not available to order for the Hilux yet.

Apparently the DAB module has to be specifically certified for use on the Hilux.

At the moment they have no information on when this certification will take place, would you be able to find out when DAB will be available to order for the Hilux 2012?

          2. Hi Paul,
Thanks for your question. DAB modules have to be certified for use on the Hilux; we don’t currently know when this is available to order, but will endeavour to find out and get back to you shortly.

          3. Hi Ollie,
Its been a few weeks now, I was just wondering if there was any news on DAB.

Do you have an email address I can contact you on directly?

          4. Hi Paul

There has been no further announcements regarding the DAB certification, it’s still on-going situation. Apologies that I can’t bring you any further updates, as soon as I find out more I’ll let you know!

  3. Now that I’ve taken delivery of my new Hilux (and I’m very pleased with it), is there any information as to when the Touch&Go apps (fuel prices, etc) will become available?

    1. Hi Alex,

Glad to hear you are pleased with your new Hilux. Touch & Go apps are due to launch later this year/ early next year, we will post more information here on the blog as soon as we have it.

  4. Our parking heater fitters are wanting to know if the new face lift 2012 has the same climate control (auto air con) system as the outgoing 2010/2011 models? Is the wiring and control sytem unchanged?

        1. Hi Omar,

Sorry for the late reply I was investigating this for you. The wiring system will have changed in the new Hilux model and unfortunately I am unable to identify the exact variations. However, your parking heater fitters can find more technical information on the Hilux wiring systems here: http://www.toyota-tech.eu

    1. Hi Omar,

Are you able to tell me where you get the parking heater fitted? i would also like to have one fitted when my hilux arrives.

  5. What is the lead time on the new 2012 model or when are the first ones available. I am hearing conflicting reports via showroom staff.

    1. Hi Gavin,

Lead times can vary from 6 to 8 weeks owing to a number of variables such as model specification or any additional accessories. There could be further delays caused by external factors such as bad weather resulting in shipping disruption. Your dealer is best placed to help you – they will be able to give you an estimated lead time based on the model and specification you wish to order.

      Thanks for your question.

  6. Our 2012 facelift Hilux arrives in November. We want to buy winter tyres for it now. Can you please tell me what size of tyre will be on the 2012 Invincible auto?

    1. Hi Omar,

Good to hear you are taking the necessary precautions for the winter months ahead. Your local Toyota Centre will be able to advise you on the correct tyre choice for your 2012 Hilux Invincible. You can contact them by clicking here.

      1. Hi Robert,
Unfortunately all my local Toyota dealers are clueless as to the size of tyre.
The problem is by the time i find out the size of winter the tyres all will have sold out.
We live and work in Scotland, where winters can be particularly harsh (the last two being esp. bad). We need winter tyres because we tow with our pick-ups (even our LC V8 has winter tyres ready to go on at the beginning of next month)
Surely you can find out the tyre size for the 2012 Hilux and post it here?
        Thanks, Omar.

        1. Hi Omar,

The tyre size information you need to get winter tyres on your 2012 Hilux Invincible is: 265/65R17 112T. If you visit your local Centre with this information they will be able to order winter tyres for your Hilux.

          Thanks for your question.

          1. Hi Robert,

            Thank you.

These have been ordered and are on there way to us. Toyota dealer offered Yokohamas, we prefer Pirelli Snow + Ice (truly awesome tyre for the slippery stuff). Our usual supplier’s stock has gone already and i had to phone around to get them (from Holland!).

  7. I have a 2012 model on order but i am told the style pack is not available until later in the year. what are the reasons for this?

  8. hilux is versatile and very reliable pick up truck, it really amaze me that I has 24hp more and it can accelerate 0-60 in just 2.5 sec.? Is that true? This model is way far better than Hilux 2009 and better than Tundra and Sequoia series.

    1. Hi Car DVD,

      Thanks for your comments.

We love the Hilux as well. Full details, including performance information, for the new 2012 Hilux aren’t available at the moment. As soon as more details are available we will publish them here on the blog.

  9. I’ve got one on order. When should we expect to see details of the UK spec, perhaps even a brochure?

As for the videos, I like the last one!

    1. Hi Alex,

The new 2012 Hilux is due to launch in the UK later next month. We will have further details about specifications and brochure availability in the coming weeks, when we do we will post them here on the blog.

      Thanks for your question,
