With heavy snow affecting much of the UK, you might be thinking of buying a four-wheel drive vehicle. From the compact all-wheel drive Urban Cruiser right up to the iconic, go-anywhere Land Cruiser SUV, the Toyota 4×4 range has something for everyone.
The 1.4-litre D-4D AWD Urban Cruiser might be small, but it’s definitely capable. In fact, with CO2 emissions of just 130g/km, it’s the cleanest 4×4 available in the UK.
And if you think four-wheel drive vehicles have to be thirsty, think again. The Urban Cruiser AWD delivers 57.7mpg according to official combined cycle figures.
If you’re looking for something a little bigger, look no further than the latest RAV4. The choice includes a 2.2-litre D-4D diesel or 2.0-litre petrol engine complete with Toyota Optimal Drive for maximum fuel efficiency. At the top of our list, the Toyota Land Cruiser delivers 60 years of off-road expertise. The latest Land Cruiser is available with either a 3.0-litre D-4D diesel engine or a mighty 4.5-litre D-4D diesel V8 for maximum torque. Of course, don’t be surprised if you’re out in your Land Cruiser and you spot a few stranded motorists. With a seven-seat option available, you’ll be able to pack everyone on board.
On the look out for a 4×4 pick-up? Toyota’s commercial range includes the legendary Hilux. The range-topping Hilux is called Invincible for all the right reasons – after all, Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson couldn’t destroy it (no matter how hard he tried!). What’s more, the Arctic Trucks-converted Polar Hilux conquered the North Pole (click to watch part one of Top Gear’s Polar Special) and Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano.

Please note, the video shows professional drivers demonstrating each vehicle’s 4×4 abilities on roads closed to public traffic. Toyota does not endorse or recommend driving in conditions when it is not safe to do so.
