Toyota’s recent Carbon Trust Standard achievement adds to the good news that continues to arrive about the low emissions of Toyota’s vehicles.
Clean Green Cars‘ announcement earlier this year that Toyota has the lowest average CO2 figure of any manufacturer in the UK, details have been further investigated by Autocar. The magazine has published across-the-board industry results which show Toyota cars produce an average 124.5g/km – almost 15 per cent lower than the predicted figure, taking the size and power of the models into account. This figure is also well below the EU’s 130g/km target for all manufacturers to achieve by 2012.
Analysing the results, Jay Nagley declared that Toyota’s leadership is “only partially due to hybrids, its Toyota Optimal Drive system also means its petrol and diesel models are better than average.”
