Toyota School Sports Day 2015

We asked, and you responded! Thanks to all of the Toyota fans, drivers and owners, the inaugural Toyota Sports Day was a huge success.

The Toyota Sports Day embraces all the fun of the what many of us will remember as one of the best days of school by recreating it for grown-ups.

But instead of skinned knees and a long jump pit with mould growing in it, we brought along a selection of brand new Toyota cars, and offered the freedom of driving on an old airfield to make things considerably more exciting!

Forty drivers were arranged into four teams, each of which we named after an element of the famed Toyota Production System.

Team Andon, Team Genchi Genbutsu, Team Kaizen and Team Poka-Yoke then went head to head in four events – including an egg and spoon race, a penalty shoot out, a “balance the ball” test and a high speed auto test.

With the team competition complete, we then went back to the GT86 for a head-to-head, where everyone competed as individuals to find the fastest driver of the day. After a series of shoot-outs it was MR2 owner Paula Jacques who emerged victorious.

As our short film from the event reveals, “Who wants to go back to school with Toyota?” was the cry, and the overwhelming answer was “WE DO!”
