Toyota Verso 2014 – pictured in detail

The new 1.6-litre D-4D diesel engine may (quite rightly) be grabbing the headlines when it comes to the 2014 Toyota Verso, but that’s not the whole story – there’s a lot more to our updated compact MPV than simply what’s under the bonnet.

First of all, there’s the revised interior, which features new grey cloth with contrasting silver stitching for a lighter, brighter ambience. The modular interior is ideal for active families – one reason why Verso has the highest share of young family owners in the MPV market.

The 2014 Verso comes with the Touch2 multimedia system as standard, and this can be upgraded to Touch2 Go spec with TomTom traffic info, Google Street View and Panoramio. Toyota is the first big manufacturer to include Google Street View and Panoramio in its multimedia system.

Drivers change gear 100,000 times a year. The 2014 Verso improves this experience with a tactile new gearknob.

The new Avantgarde Bronze metallic paint means 2014 Verso cuts a visual dash.

There are more trim grades available too – the range has been expanded to Active, Icon, Trend and Excel. The Verso Trend (not pictured) can be identified by the ‘floating roof’ style, unique five-spoke alloys, rear privacy glass and front and rear parking sensors.

But we can’t forget that engine. The Verso gains a new economical and low-emission 1.6 D-4D turbodiesel engine with 110bhp. It’s sourced from BMW and re-engineered by Toyota for optimised performance and economy.

The new 1.6 D-4D turbodiesel engine replaces 2.0 D-4D in the Verso line-up.

Toyota developed a new dual-mass flywheel, gearbox housing, engine mounts and electronics to complement the new engine. It uses stop/start tech to deliver CO2 emissions of 119g/km and fuel economy of 62.8mpg on the combined cycle.

Economy improves 8%, and weight is cut by 10kg. The car accelerates from 0-62mph in 12.7 sec and has a 115mph top speed.

Designed to be responsive, the 1.6 D-4D means smooth torque generation from low revs and no drop-off after 3,000rpm.

  2. i have a new Toyota trend and had leather fitted in it, this has been one big problem, it has been back a number of times and still doesn’t fit . how many times does it have to be repaired before I can have a new car.

  3. Are the only differences between the Verso Icon and Trend those you have mentioned or are there others? – The Verso Trend (not pictured) can be identified by the ‘floating roof’ style, unique five-spoke alloys, rear privacy glass and front and rear parking sensors.

The toyota.co.uk has not been updated to include the trend or the new 1.6 D-4D any idea when?

Lastly nice car. Any idea where I can test drive one, my nearest toyota dealer has not got the 1.6 D-4D yet.

    1. Hi Shamus
Thanks for your post about the new Verso.
Just to confirm the Trend (above the Icon) has a floating roof, unique 17″ alloy wheels, (vs 16″ for Icon), front parking sensors (has rear reversing camera) and the new Toyota Touch 2 Navigation system. It also has privacy glass (but Icon has this too).
Sorry about the issue regarding test drives, there has been a delay with the delivery of the Verso to our network but this should be sorted out very soon to enable test drives to take place.
Hope this helps but do let us know if you have any other questions.

  4. I like new fresh design of Verso (2013). Also I am a owner of a old one Verso from 2007. I am looking now for new 7-seater and Verso is my favourite once again but.

Now when I decide to buy brand new “white” Verso (Sol edition), you change on this edition alloys with this new silver smoke alloys that does not look good on the white edition of Verso.

Now I understand why the commercial for the 2014 advertises the smoke just because they fit only on this Avantgard color, while you were on the 2013 hit full Verso white with black rims.

Please point me where on the Internet can find a white version of the 2014 Versa with SOL equipment and these new smoke wheels. My purchase depends on this decision, please respond.

    Best regards,

    1. Hello Ian
      Thanks for your post.
We would recommend that you contact the Toyota distributor in Croatia as vehicle specifications across Europe can vary. They will be able to confirm the wheels that are fitted to that grade of vehicle. We have attached a link to their website if this helps. http://www.toyota.hr/

    1. Hello Ulfar
      Thanks for your post.
We do sell a Verso automatic, but this is currently only available with a 1.8-litre petrol engine.
Let us know if you have any more questions
